Complaints about issues of study law

FH Council

In case of complaints about issues of study law, the FH Council will only become involved in dealing with complaints lodged:

·     if the complainant claims a violation against an administrative decision

·     if the course-providing body asks for the assessment of facts that are regulated by administrative decision.

In case of complaints, the FH Council will ask the course-providing body to comment on the alleged violation of the administrative decision. All other issues will be dealt with by the complainant and the course-providing body under private law. As experience has shown that complainants most often turn to the FH Council or the competent federal ministry, the exchange of information between these two authorities has been agreed upon.

Students' Ombudsman

Students can file any complaints they may have with the office of the students' attorney. The office of the students' attorney was established in March 2001 as a central body for quality assurance and improvement of services for students at universities, Fachhochschulen and teachers' academies. The office of the students' attorney provides free information on all topics related to studying, such as study law, grants, studying abroad and halls of residence, and assists in case of problems with the course, with teachers or in case of administrative problems at the educational institutions where they cannot be resolved or appear unresolvable.
