Awarding of academic degrees
Academic degrees will be awarded by the FH teaching board or the FH council if the degree programme is organised by an institution that is not a Fachhochschule.
The actual awarding can be effected in two ways:
- by a representative of the FH teaching board or the FH Council handing over the diploma in a ceremony or
- by means of a so-called silent graduation, which means that the diploma is handed over of sent by mail by the managing body of the FH Council or the adminstrative office of the FH Council.
Graduates may only use their academic title after the diploma certificate has been awarded. This applies regardless of the fact that an FH degree programme is completed by successfully passing the final Bachelor's or diploma exams.
The academic degree my be used together with the graduate's name in the following way:
Academic degrees for FH diploma degree programmes in the one-tier system
DI (FH) or Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Martha Mustermann
Mag. (FH) Max Mustermann
Academic degrees for FH bachelor and FH master degree programmes
Max Mustermann, BA or B.A.; BSc. or B.Sc.
Martha Mustermann, MA or M.A.; MSc. or M.Sc.
DI or Dipl.-Ing. Martha Mustermann
