Aims of the tiered system
The aims of the tiered higher-education system can be summarised as
follows:
- Increased flexibility for courses and programmes;
- Improved international comparability of the completed programmes;
- Increasing the students' mobility and the attractiveness of the
offered programmes for international students.
This new higher-education system offers the possibility of redesigning
the interface between a completed degree programme and further
qualifications, thereby making the shift between working and studying
phases more flexible.
In addition, organising higher education in a more tiered way improves
the possibility of adapting it to the changes in the labour market and
the requirements of lifelong learning. The entailed diversification of
the courses offered is more in keeping with the heterogeneous demands
of the students and the needs of the business world. |
